Rowing By Silver Light
Silver was the color
the rower oared through,
the silver air suspended
above the silver river.
The light was held back
from pushing its way through
by barricades of clouds,
making the light appear silver,
clouds barricades guarded
by their beefy policing the hills
the rower oared past the foot of.
Even the fish proved
color coordinated.
Not so a cormorant
and a swan
who were not shy
in advancing their positions
of either black or white,
never silver, though they, too,
were cast in a silver light,
which never did alter
all the time the rower was out.
