Morning Row

Morning Row

The shadow of a lone swan
fell across the bow
of the scull, so close
had the swan come
to the rower about to set off,
so close the rower could reach
and touch the shadow.
He felt the heartbeat
of the shadow pulse
against the tip of his fingers.
